Who Can Apply for DASA?

Eligibility criteria for the DASA 2026 scheme.

NRI / OCI / PIO

Indian nationals must have completed 11th and 12th (or equivalent) outside India. OCI/PIO card holders are also eligible.

Foreign Nationals

Candidates who are not citizens of India (by birth or naturalized). Must have a valid student visa.

CIWG

Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq, Iran). One parent must be working in a Gulf country.

Academic Requirement

Valid JEE Main 2026 scorecard with rank. Minimum 75% in Class XII (or CGPA 7.5/10) with Mathematics, Physics, and one of Chemistry/Biotech/CS/Bio.

Who is eligible for DASA scheme?

Foreign Nationals, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), and Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries (CIWG) are eligible. Indian nationals must have completed 11th and 12th (or equivalent) outside India.

Is JEE Main mandatory for DASA?

Yes. Since 2021-22, DASA admissions are based on JEE Main ranks. Candidates must have a valid JEE Main 2026 scorecard and rank for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.).

What is CIWG category in DASA?

CIWG stands for Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries. One-third of the 15% supernumerary seats are reserved for CIWG candidates. The parent must be working in a Gulf country (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq, Iran).

What is the fee for DASA admission?

Non-SAARC candidates pay US $8,000 per year (approx ₹6.6 lakh). SAARC nationals get a 50% waiver. CIWG candidates pay ₹1,25,000 per year at NITs and IIEST Shibpur.
